Getting Match Fit - Training

Getting match fit is crucial when it comes to cricket, as it is more physical than most people realise.

Aerobic training is an incredibly useful tool in getting into shape for cricket. By way of energy-generating exercises such as cycling, rowing, or running, a minimum of two low-intensity sessions every week, consisting of at least an hour, is required.

The benefits are undeniable.

Shuttle sprints are also an important exercise to undertake. Most sprints last no more than 7-40 metres in regular cricket matches, and practising these sprints can significantly improve your performance.

It is also essential that you warm up properly before every game, to stretch the body and prepare mentally. Warm-ups that include dynamic movements are strongly recommended to help cricketers perform to their best ability.
